Mediaforta earns VOKA sustainability label
Mediaforta has been awarded the VOKA Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship, and we’re proud of it! It’s a well-deserved recognition for the efforts we made at the end of 2024 and especially during the first five months of 2025 to further integrate sustainability into our organization.
“We’re pleased to inform you that the VCDO’s independent evaluation committee has endorsed the recommendation to grant you the VOKA Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship. Congratulations!” That’s how the message to CEO Tom Peeters began when he received the email in mid-June 2025.
Contributing to a more sustainable world
We’ve previously communicated why we embarked on this intensive sustainability journey. “For us, sustainability is not just a buzzword, it’s a strategic choice,” Tom Peeters said in that article. “As a content marketing agency, we want to take our responsibility seriously and make a tangible contribution to a more sustainable world. That’s why we committed to achieving the VOKA Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship in 2025. This trajectory helps us structurally embed sustainability into our operations.”
AI policy
In another blog, we detailed the various actions we’ve undertaken as part of this effort. For instance, we’re particularly proud of the comprehensive AI policy we developed, which includes our own AI Influence Scale.
We also made significant progress in improving employee well-being, through initiatives such as an ergonomics workshop, a resilience-building workshop, the appointment of a confidential advisor, the introduction of a disconnection policy, a preventive alcohol and drug policy, and a remote work policy.
Other actions included building knowledge around digital sustainability, inclusion and accessibility, gaining expertise in CSRD reporting, communicating about our own sustainability journey, improving cybersecurity, and providing year-end gifts that support local charities.
New actions
We’ll continue working on many of these action points in the future. After all, sustainability is never a finished task. For example, we plan to raise more awareness about our alcohol and drug policy by featuring a testimonial from a former drug or alcohol addict.
Some actions have also led to new initiatives that will be completed at a later stage. We’re currently working on creating and designing our own sustainability report, and as part of that, we intend to calculate our CO₂ footprint.
The evaluation committee also identified a few areas for improvement. They encouraged us to extend our well-being efforts to our freelance content creators and highlighted the importance of ensuring that the company can function without the direct involvement of the founder – though they did acknowledge progress has already been made in that area. Ultimately, the committee recognized “that these efforts required considerable commitment from Mediaforta, given the size of the company,” and praised the fact that “the entire Mediaforta team got behind this action plan.”
