As part of our whitepaper ‘The vision of 27 marketers and content creators for 2026’, we asked SEO copywriter Bram Thiry for his vision for 2026 and two practical tips he would give to readers. You can read his response below.

Every few years, someone declares SEO is dead. And every time, it simply evolves. In 2026, we’re watching that evolution happen again, but this time, it’s moving back toward something deeply human.

After a few chaotic years of AI-generated content flooding the web, audiences have started to tune out the noise. They’re tired of reading the same “10 tips” articles written by machines with no point of view. They want honesty. They want originality. They want a voice that feels real.

Human SEO

That’s why I believe we’re entering the era of human SEO, where success depends less on how well you follow the algorithm, and more on how well you understand the human behind the search.

AI will continue to play a crucial role in what we do. It’s far too powerful to ignore. But its role is shifting. It’s no longer the writer; it’s the assistant. The smart copywriters, strategists, and marketers are using AI to work faster, to find insights, to spark creativity, not to replace it. The best results come when humans and machines collaborate, each doing what they do best.

Search engines are evolving, too. With conversational search and AI-driven assistants like SearchGPT, the focus is moving from keywords to intent. People don’t just search for information anymore; they want answers that understand them. That means brands have to stop writing for algorithms and start writing for people again.

Originality

And while AI makes it easier to produce content, it also makes originality more valuable than ever. The internet is overflowing with generic copy, so the brands that will stand out are those willing to share a strong opinion, an authentic story, or real expertise. It’s no longer about ranking; it’s about earning trust.

Finally, SEO is becoming more connected to brand storytelling. The days of isolated blog posts are gone. Every channel (your podcast, your email, your website, your social feed) should tell one consistent story. Google notices that coherence, but more importantly, your audience feels it.

So yes, SEO is more technical than ever, but the future of SEO copywriting is also more emotional, more strategic, and more human.

Because no matter how much technology changes, the same question still drives great content: What’s in it for the reader?

TIP 1: Write for conversations, not keywords

Stop obsessing over search terms and start writing like you’re in a conversation. Search intent is no longer a spreadsheet of keywords; it’s a series of human questions. Use natural phrasing, anticipate follow-ups, and make your content sound like something people would say out loud. This approach improves dwell time, strengthens brand tone, and future-proofs your content for conversational search and voice AI.

Forget the old habit of stuffing your text with search terms. People and search engines now value natural, conversational content. Write like you’re answering a real person’s question, not filling in a form. Anticipate the follow-ups, use plain language, and let your sentences flow like speech. This shift not only helps your content perform better in voice and conversational search, it also makes it easier and more enjoyable for people to read.

TIP 2: Mix AI speed with human soul

AI can be brilliant for research, outlines, or repurposing content. But it can’t feel, observe, or tell a story from experience. You can. Use AI to save time on structure and repetition, then add your voice, your examples, and your emotion. Readers can tell when something’s been written by a human who cares, and so can Google. In 2026, the best content will come from those who let AI do the heavy lifting but keep the heart of the message human.
