Podcast: How to communicate sustainability right (with sustainability copywriter Geert)

Sustainability is no longer optional: it’s a must. But how do you turn complex ESG strategies into clear, credible content? In this episode of Creator Talks, copywriter and translator Geert shares practical insights on sustainability communication for B2B brands. Whether you’re a copywriter, marketer, or business owner, this conversation will help you avoid greenwashing and write with integrity.

What does sustainability mean in a B2B-context?

“For me sustainability means that you try to be future proof as a company, as an employer, a production unit, … You create a future proof environment not only for your employees, but also for your stakeholders. More and more clients, investors and suppliers are willing to work with companies who prioritise a green environment. Due to various regulations, big companies also have to report about their sustainability efforts.” – Geert

What are common mistakes companies make in their sustainability communication?

“One of the mistakes companies can make, is focusing too much on their achievments. They also have to acknowledge the challenges they are facing. So it’s important to have a mix of successes and ‘failures’ or action points in a sustainability report.

A second error is greenwashing. It’s not enough to mention that you are a sustainable company, that statement has to be backed up by concrete data. That’s why your goals have to be measurable and tangible. It has to be more than a promotion stunt.” – Geert
