As part of our whitepaper ‘The vision of 27 marketers and content creators for 2026’, we asked B2B copywriter Geert Van Cauwenberge for his vision for 2026 and two practical tips he would give to readers. You can read his response below.

1. The rise of AI-augmented copywriting

In 2026, B2B copywriting will move from experimenting with AI to embedding it fully into day-to-day practice. Generative AI tools will become an invisible part of content production – drafting multi-channel copy, tailoring messages for different audiences and optimising headlines in real time. Yet the most successful brands will understand that AI alone cannot build trust or convey nuance. The winning approach will pair machine efficiency with human creativity. As a copywriter, I will be expected to act as hybrid creator: skilled in prompt design, able to steer AI outputs and responsible for maintaining narrative coherence, tone and empathy.

2. Hyper-personalisation and account-based messaging

The pressure for personalisation in B2B communication will intensify. With tighter privacy laws and the decline of third-party tracking, marketers will rely on first-party and voluntary data to shape messages that speak directly to individual decision-makers. Copy will no longer vary only by industry or region; it will adapt to the reader’s role, be a stage in the buying process and even current priorities. The most effective messaging will feel less like marketing and more like a one-to-one conversation.

3. Authenticity, narrative depth and thought leadership

As automated content floods the market, B2B audiences are becoming increasingly sensitive to tone and authenticity. They want genuine stories, real expertise and language that sounds human. As an experienced B2B copywriter, I’m convinced long-form content will still play an important role, but only if it delivers meaningful insights and a distinctive brand voice. The days of formulaic “white paper” writing are numbered.

4. Multilingual copywriting and next-level localisation

The boundary between copywriting and translation will blur even further in 2026. AI tools will produce first drafts in multiple languages, but professional translators will increasingly act as “transcreators” – adapting tone, idioms and cultural references rather than simply translating words. Successful campaigns will sound as if they were written locally, not translated centrally.

5. Interactive and immersive formats

Finally, B2B copy will increasingly live in interactive environments: microsites, virtual demos, podcasts, short-form video and voice-based interfaces. Translators and copywriters alike will need to think across formats, crafting language that works in sound, motion and touch, not just on screen.

TIP 1: Step out of your comfort zone – and into a niche

As a B2B copywriter, it’s tempting to stay within the industries you know best. But growth happens when you take on projects that challenge your understanding. Exploring sectors outside your comfort zone forces you to ask sharper questions, research more deeply and adapt your tone to new audiences. Over time, this experience builds not just your writing skills but also your versatility as a professional.

A niche approach doesn’t mean limiting yourself – it means developing a reputation for depth and insight in the areas where you add real value. By combining niche expertise with occasional ‘stretch assignments’, you stay both credible and curious – a rare balance that clients appreciate.

TIP 2: Don’t just write well – be well-connected

Quality and fair pricing matter, but clients also value how accessible and responsive you are. In B2B copywriting, trust is built not only through sharp content but through consistent communication. Be available, react quickly, and take the initiative to think with your clients rather than just for them. That might mean suggesting content ideas before you’re asked, or proactively spotting opportunities to strengthen their brand voice.

Accessibility doesn’t equal 24/7 availability, but it does mean showing commitment and clarity in how you collaborate. The best client relationships grow from this sense of partnership – where responsiveness and reliability are as much a part of your value as the words you deliver.
